Baby Sitting Co-op

 

Exciting!!  So a group of Sunday School girls and I attended our annual Ladies Retreat.  The theme of the retreat this year was "Blessed: A Friendship Like No Other".  One of the things talked about was a babysitting co-op.  We all agreed this is something we needed to get started with our class.

So we did thanks to Mrs. Bush.  We have a closed facebook group where you can go and request childcare from the members of the group.  Then everyone was given 10 yellow tickets...this is how you "pay" for the babysitting.  Each yellow ticket is worth 30 minutes.  So if I have a friend watch Jack for one hour, I give her 2 yellow tickets.  Now she has 12 yellow tickets to use...this way you don't have to "owe" one specific person for watching your child, anyone with yellow tickets can swap babysitting.

Anyway, one afternoon, Jack's friend Aubrey Kate came over.  Jack was finishing up his nap so the first few minutes Aubrey Kate and I played downstairs.  She was such a big girl.  She could stand all by herself!  So when Jack came out to play I think he learned a lot from her.  It was so cute to watch him, watch her.  Whatever AK was playing with, he wanted to play with.  Whenever she moved across the room to a new toy, he followed her to play with it as well.

So the next day Jack started doing so much more.  I really think it was from watching AK do everything she could do.  He started walking around his musical table and play table upstairs and also started making more sounds when he talked.

I'm excited to see Jack play with his friends while helping out my friends.

So Proud of my Big Boy!

I had to stop and write this down.  Jack and I were eating lunch today. Together!!!

I've been giving him pieces of meat, cheese and fruits since February but he only liked crunchy, dry finger foods.  He couldn't stand anything wet or mushy.  About two days ago, I gave him some pancakes again and this time he picked them up and started eating them.  I tried to give him some peaches but he did not want any of that.  The next day I put the peaches down first and he picked them up right away and ate them all!  I've also given him blueberries and he loves those too.  He still only has his two front, bottom teeth but somehow chews all of these things and swallows them fine.

So for lunch today, he had turkey. And can I say the new Oscar Meyer carving board meets are great for him.  They are easy for me to tear into bitty pieces for him to eat.  He also had some cheese torn apart and even ate some shredded cheese (which he hadn't wanted until now).  He had some crackers and then some gerber mixed berries melt aways.  I need to go to the store and get some more fruits and vegetables for him now that he is actually eating them.

Jack has also started drinking his milk during the day in a sippy cup.  He still gets a bottle in the morning and at night but everything else in a sippy cup.  He is doing great with this transition.


Also, today he started saying "Na-Na"  constantly, which is the closest he has ever come to Ma-Ma.  So we'll see where that goes.

10 Months!

This means I have already begun thinking and bookmarking sites for his 1st birthday party.

Jack is 21.5 pounds and I don't know how long.  We actually had to take him to the doctor on the day hit the 10 month mark because he had an ear infection.  But the "nurse" who was taking all of his measurements did not do them correctly.  I think she was practicing or something because the normal nurse kept following her around observing her.  Anyway...


Here is some of what Jack has done this month.

Still loves his race track...this will be his 1st birthday theme...also, this hat is for 2 year olds but it fits his head perfectly.

I love his glow worm as much as he does.  Jack is the best sleeper.  He still goes down at 7:30pm, but now is awake (usually wide awake) when we put him down instead of almost asleep.  But he is perfectly fine punching his glow worm or turning on his light musical mobile and watching the animals move up and down.  He falls asleep after about 5 minutes of this.  Love it!!  What is even more fun is when I wake up at 3am because he rolled over his glow worm, yet he is still sound asleep!

This past month was the first time Jack and I went grocery shopping together.  I would normally try to go on the day he was at preschool because I never thought he would be patient enough to go with me.  But I was wrong.  he enjoys the stroll looking at everything.  This was our first trip and so I made sure he had things to occupy his attention, but now I don't take any toys and he is great.

Early in this month Jack began to try and lean down, while standing, and pick something up.  As the month went on, he did this with ease.  Currently he is practicing sitting down from the standing position.

We visited Daddy during spring break.

Jack began walking holding on to his lion.  This video is a little long but that is because the first part if of Jack walking with his lion and the second part is Jack talking to his stuffed lion.  So cute!

This last video is of Jack dancing to the Aggie War Hymn.  This is after he pulled himself up.

Once again I hope to get more posts in before he turns 11 months.  He has already had some fun experiences.

Grandparents, Great Grandparents and Bluebonnets

This was a big day for Jack!

First we drove up to Whitesboro where my dad  grew up and my grandparents live.  Jack slept most of the way up since it was during his nap time.  We got to spend sometime with Grandpa, Sherry, Papa, and Nanny.  We even went to Don's BBQ.  This was a blast from the past.  I haven't been to Don's in at least 10 years maybe even 15 years.  But it was fun to get to take Jack there.  Unfortunately, the Native American that used to sit in the old building next door was no where to be found.

We then left about the time for Jack's afternoon nap and drove 2 hours to the Dallas National Cemetery.  We were meeting Ben's family there to take pictures in the bluebonnets.  We somehow arrived early so we stopped at my Grandad's resting place.  I had never been there so it was great that we got a chance to go.

Then it was time for bluebonnet pictures.  We had to climb up a big hill with tall grass.  I love Ben's face in this picture  :)  He was not a fan of the tall itchy grass.
