Then I took the invitation to the cake place and had them create his cakes using the theme.
Jack's cake, it was the size of the top of a wedding cake.
This was the cake for the adults at the party.
Cupcakes for the kiddo's. I made the toppers.
I had a onsie made that says "It's my first birthday". I can't believe this is the best picture I got of his shirt.
Jack and Ben before the party.
I can't believe Jack wore his hat. He always pulls off his hats. Maybe because there wasn't a brim for him to realize he was wearing something on his head.
"hehe, it's my birthday!"

May 2011 (I added the flowers using photshop since this was not my final shirt)
Snack table...I made the boxes by painting boxes I had stored in closets with white paint...printint out the "1st" flags and car squares. Then I had pictures of Jack printed and put on the boxes. I had race car plates and race car bubbles on the table as well.
Now I have to say it was a VERY HUMID day. I felt terrible for the guests but also, this is what I had planned and I didnt' want to change it. I figured people could handle it for an hour or so, or go in the house if it was too hot.
Jack's throne...I made the banner up above using corel photo shop, my printer and string.
Papa visiting with Jack
Some of the guests
Putting Jack's shoes on so he could walk using his lion.
Walking with his lion but also watching the other kids swing on his swing...I don't think he was wanting to share his swing by the look on his face.
So I guess since it was his birthday he got his way.
Drinking juice and getting hydrated before cake.
Just before we sand Happy Birthday
Singing
Mommy blew out the candles
Unsure of what to think
Not wanting to try until daddy put some on his lips
Still not sure
Ok, now ready to try himself
this process took about 20 minutes
The guests "watching" Jack eat his cake
Yumm
I went in to get the ice cream and when I came back out he was enjoying his cake
Sweaty, hot...but ready for presents
Opening Buzz Lightyear...a push toy with lots of buttons to push and make sounds
Aubrey Kate helping Jack open...she just had her 1st birthday a little over a month before Jack's so she had some practice.
Dr. Pepper shirt from Grandpa
Red racing car, handmade by Sherwin and Linda
Jack is looking at Carson playing with Reveille (see next picture)
Jack got his own talking tv box
And his big gift from us, the 3 step trycicle...poor thing, it is now July 1st and I don't think he has ridden it but twice since his birthday...it has just been so hot, over 100 degrees almost everyday.
Getting out his last big of energy before bed, after all of the guests have left.
Jack had a wonderful 1st birthday!
